The Tour of Britain - September 7th - 14th September

Posted Wed, 20th Aug 2014

After an exciting and thrilling Tour de France in Yorkshire, it is now the opportunity for the rest of the UK to get a glimpse of some of the top cyclists in the world with the Tour of Britain. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, work, family etc you won't always have the opportunity to go and ride or view those routes. However, we here at Brightside Indoor Cycling have the next best option, right on your doorstep.

With our Turbo trainers, you can come in and ride the exact stages of the Tour of Britain thanks to OS mapping for providing all of the gpx routes. Our turbo's will take the gpx information and relay it in to the turbo's to provide the exact resistance needed for you to feel like you are riding the real course.

You can come in and ride the route whilst watching the stage live on our screen or you can come in and do a similar training session whilst watching the highlights at 7pm. Please see below for the timings and schedule and make sure you book early to avoid disappointment, as these will no doubt be very popular sessions.

Stage 1 - Liverpool

Stage one is 105 km in the centre of Liverpool, 8 laps of a circuit that starts and ends on The Strand, next to the 'Three Graces'. The route races along Parliment Street, Princes Road and loops around Sefton Park before returning.

Live - 14:15 - 16:30
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 2 - Knowsley to Llandudno

stage two starts from Knowsley in England and ends in Llandudno on the North Wales coast. The route is 201km with some serious hill climbs in the later stages - the Skoda 'King of the Hill' points are sure to be a favourite with fans.

Live - 10:30 - 16:30
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 3 - Newton to The Tumble

Stage three remains in Wales and travels south from Newtown to The Tumble near Abergavenny. Ending at The Tumble means the riders will have to end the stage with a gruelling climb of 432ms over a 6km distance to complete this 180km stage.

Live - 11:15 - 16:30
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 4 - Worcester to Bristol

185km long, stage four passes through Great Malvern, Evesham, Cheltenham and Stroud before finishing in Bristol city centre, so there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to watch their favourite riders in action.

Live - 11:00 - 15:00
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 5 - Exmouth to Exeter

Stage five is almost a complete circuit, starting from Exmouth then on to Okehampton before crossing Darmoor to Tavistock before turning around and coming back a more southerly route to Exeter. It's 177km long through some stunning natural scenery - but we suspect the riders will be too busy to really appreciate it!

Live - 11:15 - 15:00
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 6 - Bath to Hemel Hempstead

Stage six starts at the historic city of Bath, heading east across central southern England. The route passes through Bradford upon Avon, Hungerford, Wantage and Chesham before finishing in Hemel Hempstead. This stage totals 206km, and has relatively level going for much of the route.

If there is enough interest - I would actually look to take a group up to Newbury and back to watch the tour go through. We would start in Winchester and head up towards Andover and then to Newbury. Bite of Lunch and then back. Please contact me if this would interest you.

Stage 7 - Camberley to Brighton

The longest stage of The Tour of Britain 2014, stage seven is 225km, so we're sure the riders will be happy that it is relatively flat.

Live - 10:15 - 13:00
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00

Stage 8 - London Final

The last chance for the riders to shine and challenge for that podium place, The Tour of Britain returns to central London to finish at the heart of the capital. Riders will race ten laps of the 8.8km circuit, starting and finishing on Whitehall and passing by the Tower of London, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

Live - 11:00 - 15:00
Highlights - 19:00 - 20:00
