First timers at Sporting Events & Races

Eliza - Personal Trainer

On May 4th myself and a client took part in our first triathlon together.

The event was a novice sprint event with a broad scale of ability levels and ages. The triathlon consisted of an 8 length swim, 12km bike ride and a 2.5km (hilly!) run.

Taking part in an event such as this is a great way to stay motivated! It enables you to stay on track with your training and goals whilst not getting bored or complacent. It also allows you to break from focusing too much on body image. How much you weigh can get boring after a while if you are not seeing results!

Here at BrightsidePT we aim to work with you on achieving goals inside the gym: for example, how long it takes to run a mile, upper body strength, the amount of weight you can lift, endurance through the core etc..

Focusing on these shorter term goals enables you to stay motivated as you are constantly achieving every session! Without a doubt, the body, muscle tone and weight loss you’re aiming for comes alongside that.

Summer is here, so it’s a great time to book an event and get training for that summer body!

Amy - BrightsidePT client

Entering the May Day triathlon gave my training focus and an objective.

In the few weeks leading up to the tri, self-doubt/nerves started to set in. I had to remain determined, focused and motivated with improving not only my overall fitness but also each of the triathlon disciplines, especially swimming.

BrightsidePT were instrumental in retaining my focus. Training here helped with building my confidence and targeting my training in the lead up to the event, increasing my strength and endurance to ensure I was 'match fit'.

The event itself was brilliant and not at all as scary as I had built it up to be! I actually placed much higher than I thought possible: not bad for a first attempt, so bring on the next one!
