Confused? What should we be eating?

Posted Tue, 26th Sep 2017

I speak to a lot of women that can’t quite figure out why they are not losing weight. Telling me they have been on a diet for years but nothing seems to change, no matter how hard they try...

“I’m cutting out carbs”... “I try to buy low fat everything”...“I don’t really eat a lot”, “I have read that your should cut out X”....

There is too much information out there on what is the best diet follow, what to avoid, what causes cancer, high fat is good, no low fat is good, carb free, gluten free... the list is endless!!

I have found that a lot of people are getting confused on what they can and can’t eat and what 'diet' best suits them…The truth is EVERYBODY is different… how you react to foods, your eating habits, foods you like and dislike, no set diet is going to suit everyone and it’s finding what works for you as an individual...

Over the years of taking many women through nutritional consultations I have understood the internet / social media / dieting groups is controlling us and setting us up to fail as we all try to make unrealalic extreme diet changes!

Of course any crash diet will work! But will it be something you will maintain… highly likely not...

It’s not about cutting everything you love out… If monday to friday you are relatively controlled you have some room to treat yourself over the weekend! But most importantly getting straight back to your healthy routine when monday comes around again, and accepting the fact you’ve had a moment to enjoy a few treats and knowing that now it’s back to work routine and back to a normal healthy eating routine.

If you’re a foodie like me you’re just going to have to work that little bit harder in the gym!

We need to enjoy the whole process of eating healthy and exercising or it won’t last...

Tips to take away...

Make small changes...

Examples...

- Up your water by 1 litre

- Pack your lunch for work

- Swap your PM coffee or tea for a healthier option

- Prepare snacks in the car for the way home so your not jumping in the fridge when you step in the door

- Get to bed earlier..

Pick one change... and stick it to!
